My personal favorite was 'The Pudgy Seagull Restaurant'. My family and I also (accidentally) came up with the name 'Wicked Millie's', which I will use in a story at some point (I write fantasy short stories). Do you have any bizarre or endearing business names that you really like? Alternately, if you could come up with something LIKE Wicked Millie's in case I feel the urge to write about other inns/pubs/saloons it'd be appreciated.

Mostly I just like to see funny names. Best one wins!

I was in Spring Hill, Florida this past summer on vacation and everytime I passed this particular bar, I cracked up laughing because of it's name: "The Pickled Parrot". The day before I left I couldn't resist it any longer...I just couldn't stand the thought of leaving without checking the place out...and it was really nice! But the name, "The Pickled Parrot" for some reason, even still, just cracks me up!

About five years ago, my boss was really upset because somebody didn't flush the sit-down toilet in the mens' bathroom and left a lot of toilet paper all over the seat and on the floor. What did my boss do? He made all of us males line up and forced us to go into the bathroom to take a look at it! He said, don't be shy look closely. Then he had us meet outside the hall. He said I'm not f****** around guys! If this keeps up, I'm going to make everybody clean the bathroom and if they don't like it, then they can quit! How over reactive was that?! Then a few hours later, I was in the breakroom. One guy called his gf on the phone and said out loud, '' Today the boss paraded us into the bathroom because some mother f***** wouldn't flush! That was funny, but having to look at somebody's unflushed disaster wasn't anything to write home about ! And yes, this is a true story!

Uncle Piggley's had a doorbell that oinked, and pig salt & pepper shakers, pig pictures on the napkins. Piggy bank by the till. Long time ago, I don't remember what else, but I know there were other things. All pigs. And specials on bacon and pork sausage. Biscuits and sausage gravy always on special.

Another place just now went out of business after about 70 years. Started as the Bucket of Blood Ice Cream Parlor, which was a front for the booze they sold during prohibition.

In later years, Bucket of Blood became the Antlers. It had taxidermied animals all over. Lots of badgers, bears, turtles, foxes, deer (even a lamp made of an upside down deer hoof.) Huge snake wrapped around a length of tree on the bar. Polar bear, in an upright position, with snarling mouth, many other things.... Other stuff, like an Indian canoe hanging from the ceiling, service name pins from a lot of the Coast Guard and Air Force patrons. License plates, semifore flags, anything that someone wanted displayed.

There was a bunch of huge frying pans hanging from the ceiling over the bar, along with a very loud horn that went toot, toot, and red and green flashing lights. They set these alarms off and banged on the big pans with a huge metal spoon if someone was having a birthday or anniversary, or if someone asked for them. The waitresses usually warned the parents of small children before they blew the horns.

They had a meat case, and you could pick out yor own steak, or your own lobster from the aquarium. ... There was an old wooden floor that creaked when you walked on it, and which had paths worn into the wood from many years of customers walking over it.

There was a big bar along one side of the restaurant. A second seating section in the basement, along with a smaller bar... And a nice gift shop.

They didn't take reservations. Didn't reserve for large parties. First come first served, and was always full of diners and bar patrons. Best food in town.

There's a pub near where I live called Old Bag of Nails. I can't really explain what I like about it, but I just like it. I think it's a name with a lot of character.

There's also a bar near Ohio State's campus called The Library. Students can tell their parents they spent all weekend at "the library" & not be lying. :)
