Unless you have about 2 million dollars you can't do it. The mechanical elements would be rather easy to come by but you'd still need quite a few custom components. The electronic and software elements...well they'd be extremely expensive. Hologram technology is still fairly young and so it may be a while before we get holograms similar to the ones on the anime. You'd need software to work the mechanical aspects of the platform, the holograms, and the actual dueling software. Oh yeah, you'd also have to design an easy interface for the dueling software. Unlike the show, the decks would have to be digital. This would cut down on misunderstandings between players and lessen the amount of technology involved. At one time some suggested that you could use scanners to read each card but that would be ineffective because people don't always keep their cards in mint condition.

I don't want to say it's technologically impossible, but it is pretty unfeasible.
You would need software that understands all current card game rulings, and that is updateable to account for new cards, new banned/restricted lists and card errata when it's released, so it's going to need to be able to store data on the several thousand cards that exist and will exist.
Plus, it would require some high powered hologram technology.

I'm sure it'd be doable if there were enough technologically savvy/financially endowed people willing to try, but it'd be alot of work and there's no way it'd turn a profit.
Yugioh isn't the worldwide obsessive craze it is on the cartoon, so there aren't going to be many people, if any, willing to put the financial investment in buying, installing and maintaining one, and original prototypes will likely be huge, which puts it even further out of the reach of hobby shops.

why would you need a platform? dueling is for tables and flat areas... unless you have a duel disk and like yugioh monster figures heh. Anyway, are you talking a real simple platform or what? Are you making the one like jaden and yugi stand on when they duel? Use wood, i guess.
