If you skip it and are still living there during the month, he could sue you for it. But considering the costs of doing so, he may just let it go. And he is screwing you when you don't really deserve it (I assume you were a good tenant--paid on time, kept the place clean, etc.).

I say skip the payment. If he sues, then pay him. But not before, he deserves it. But as a sidenote, morally speaking you would be stealing. He has lent you the home in return for money, you are keeping the home for a month without giving him that money in return. That is technically stealing; I just mention it in case you have a moral problem there. It is repaying evil for evil; and it could backfire on you if you need a reference in the future for being a renter. Just know the consequences.

If you are staying there for that month, then you have to pay for it. If you are not living in the apartment for that month, don't pay the rent.

I think its stupid BUT I don't think you have much of a choice. You are required to pay the landlord what he/she is due.

Just because he is booting you doesn't mean you don't still owe rent for when you live there. Duh.
