I live in Seattle and have followed his life pretty closely. He personally supports a lot of Democratic candidates and causes and lets Steve Ballmer (now CEO of Microsoft) donate and support the Republican candidates and issues. That way the company is represented on both sides of the aisle when legislative issues arise in Congress. It's a pretty smart way for corporations to cover all bases.

I don't know which he is, but if I were Bill Gates I'd probably lean Republican. The government went after Microsoft (during the Clinton Administration) in an anti trust lawsuit.

He donates to both sides of some issues, but usually liberal.

(So much for the argument that Big Business is always on the Republican side. Jay Rockafeller throws a monkey wrench into that equation, too, having inherited a part of the Standard Oil monopoly fortune.)

Most of the causes he donates money to are liberal ones. He just doesn't want to be associated with liberals. He's a charitable person that does it out of the goodness of his heart, not to get his name in the news.

Uhm, not all democrats are atheists...sheesh.

I believe he is Republican since he contributed to Bush's campaign in 2004.

Then again, these are who he has contributed to...guess it's hard to say...

I believe he's a democrat due to the fact he is atheist.

I've always assumed he was just another left-winger.
