I am just curious because I've been to both areas and I was wondering which one would be a better place to live?

I lived in Orlando over 20 years until I moved to Tampa Bay for grad school. I would have to say Orlando is better. The traffic sucks in both places, but Orlando has so much more to do, and has less of a retirement community surrounding it.

I would say Tampa Bay area. Orlando is sooooo crowded and the traffice is absolutely miserable. The Tampa Bay area includes the outer areas such as Clearwater, St. Petersburg, etc.. and they have a lot to offer, without the "big city" feel. There are tons of restaurants, beaches, etc...

Tampa is fine if you look like the people in the link below.People from up north take two highways to reach Florida,I-4 and I-95.Midwesterners take I-4 and settle in Orlando and Tampa.Northeasterners take I-95 and settle in Miami.Tampa and Orlando are about the same so I can understand why it is difficult to break the tie.Anywhere is great if you are rich but if you are not then wait for pie in the sky when you die.

I live in the suburbs of Orlando and love it. Tampa Bay is by the gulf of mexico and has more chance of being hit bad by hurricanes.

I'd rather live in the Orlando area because it's closest to Disney World.

i like orlando b/c its seems like there is more to do there, but i hear traffic is not good there, so i guess where i live now...tampa

orlando becuase theres tons to do and your not that far from alot of places (like tampa, daytona beach)
