I doubt if defragging will make any difference here. It sounds like you might have duplicates (2 copies) of all of your music on your laptop now. I would try the following to look for and delete the duplicates (this assumes you are running Windows):

1. Check your Windows Recycle Bin. If you deleted the files, they might have just been sent to the Recycle Bin, in which case they are still sitting on your C: drive and taking up space. The simple solution here is to just empty the Bin.

2. Go to Start-->Accessories-->System Tools-->Disk Cleanup. It will run and show you how much space you can free by removing unneeded files. Duplicates of your music might have been created as temp files by your backup process

3. Go to Start-->Search and perform a search for all of the music on your computer. There is a good chance that you will find two copies of all of your songs. Look at the folders they are in and delete the duplicate copies.

empty the recycle bin. Check that you don't have the original itunes files as well as the ones you copied back.

downoad ccleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com this will clean out unneeded files.

go to add/remove programs and remove any programs you don't need also check the show updates box to see if you still have numerous versions of one program, this is common with java updates, I once had 5 versions of java each about 200mb in size.

Once this is done do a defrag

First i would derfag it (My computer, right click on the harddrive and then click properties then disk cleanup)

After that, if that doesn't help i would try find out what is taking up all that space and delete it. Also do a virus scan case you have a virus doing that.

there could be any virus occupied you confusing disk and giving pretend infos, attempt to place in kaspersky antivirus and make an entire test, if no longer something differences log in secure mode and verify if the confusing rigidity project remains the comparable, be confident that no disk freshen up on maintenance utility will help you recuperate countless length on disk, attempt utilising music up too yet im skeptic. i'm hoping you have you confusing disk divided in distinctive partitions so which you will save you substantial archives on different partitions and have a format on the disk

Seems like you have installed all your tunes again. Burn all your songs to cd and delete them.
