not really, most people who write to random people say nothing of interest. i prefer people to have some reason to write, whether it's something they've read on my page or some answer i've given rather than the fact that i just happen to be online.
i've had so many people just write at random who haven't seen my page or read anything about me and then expect me to entertain them while they just give one word replies, why would someone do that? what do they get out of it? boggles my mind it does.
this is only an online thing, in real life i dont mind because it's usually just that you happen to be near someone who likes chatting, they haven't sought you out for a boring and pointless conversation. they're just waiting for a bus or something.

No. There's few things worse than settling down with a book on a train only for some oaf to come along and share his family anecdotes with you, as has happened to me a number of times.

I used to be shy before I started working in a shop, then met all the craziest people around, including my boyfriend & now they can't shut me up!!! xxx

Yes...I'll talk to anyone. I smile first and if they smile back I start chatting. I think I crave adult conversation (have kids!)
