Monet brand jewelry?

Can you tell me if Monet is real gold or some other cheap gold metal. This gold braided women's belt is pretty darn heavy but I can't find any gold marking on it..just a little gold tab saying Monet

Monet makes costume jewelry - gold & silver plate jewelry, simulated pearls, etc.

It is unlikely the belt you are examining is gold. Gold is a soft metal and would scratch too easily - not to mention too expensive a material.

Monet jewelry is costume jewelry. A belt made of 14 K gold would be tens of thousands of dollars.
