They travel and travel and travel some more. They make speeches and speeches and more speeches. They open new things, like a new highway, a new school. They make people aware of things that need to be looked at and fixed.
They work very, very hard to make people aware of injustices. They head up societies to raise funds for needed charities.
They work ten times harder than other folks almost every day, and do it all with a smile. No whimpering, no frowns.
Not to mention the fact that having royalty brings lots and lots of tourists over to see the palaces and things. And, things with royal portraits sell, and so do magazines and newspapers.
And by the Queen's order, they DO pay taxes, like everyone else.

Well, as a tourist, I wouldn't go to Britain NEAR AS FAST without knowing they were there. Sorry, they are just part and parcel of Britain as far as I'm concerned. They say the Queen IS England and I agree.
Plus, look at HOW MANY PEOPLE have jobs related not just to tourism, but making tourist stuff, from everything from Royal Family towels for gift shops to spoons to anything else you can think of. None of this would be made without the Royals.

They help to raise funds for various charities. I for one am happy to contribute to any charity the Royal Family endorses because I know that they are reputable and don't have to be worried about being scammed. They have done the leg work and I get the benefit of that.

As an American I am usually impressed with the amount of charity, ceremony, diplomacy and politics that most high-profile royals and nobles perform.
Especially those who perform military service.
Who wants to sell me a barony? Can you still buy the ones in Scotland?

They bring in lots of tourists to spend lovely lovely money.
having a monarchy prevents us having a president (say no more) - a pm has less individual power.
They represent charities and act as a figurehead (which is good for raising funds for said charities)
and so on

I think that in our modern ways, the royal family is just lazy *** bums that cares no finger in dealing with the realities of life.

Whilst you are reading it, remember that Queen Elizabeth II will be 81 this year and she still does all that...if you are fortunate enough to live to that age just what will you be doing!
