In mythology the shadows sleep in the Shadsowland--a district in the Underworld.
In psychology, we carry our shadows within us (our psyche) and they sleep with us.--"The shadow in dreams is often represented by dark figures of the same gender as the dreamer"--Dr. Young--Of cause this applies to the shadows in psychology only. In physics and other hard sciences the shadows do not sleep. I hope it helps.
