How long (of continous use) will a typical blowtorch last?

I need to cut through about 1 foot of ice to free my car and want to know if a $20 blow torch would be a good investment. How long would it last? 2 minutes? 10 minutes?

I would invest in $20 worth of rock salt and let it do it's thing. The torch is great but when the ice melts and the water runs... it will freeze again as soon as it cools. The water resulting from salt melting won't freeze when it runs off... too much salt in it to freeze. Just takes time... if you're in a rush, use a tow truck and a winch around the frame of the car (not the bumper).
