both my kids started using kids toothpaste when the got their first tooth (around 4 mon.) i would brush their teeth with less than a pea sized amount. my oldest (6) has tried adult but it is too hot for her so we switch back to kids. she started brushing her teeth with out me there when is went into kiderg. (5) she doesnt have anything wrong with her teeth, and she hates, she want them all gone so the tooth fairy will come LOL LOL

Until the child is old enough to NOT swallow the toothpaste, you are supposed to use a flouride-free variety. Usually called beginner toothpaste or something like that. It is not good for them to swallow too much flouoride.

I'm confused. Who's not buying toothpaste for their kids?
If you're talking about little, little kids, you shouldn't buy flouride toothpaste, but you can get it without flouride in case they swallow some. Was that the question???

You do buy toothpaste,it is called oral b training toothpaste because it is safe to swallow,you shouldnt give them the kind with flouride till they can spit it out.

I used childrens. How ever my parents never did and I was just fine. The children's paste is not as strong and doesnt burn their mouth.
