I got a call the other day and the person over the phone asked my race and I said Hispanic and he said that was my ethnicity, he said my race was Latin...
I thought ethnicity was related to your nationality-origin and race with your skin color. Now, I got totally confuse!
Can you help me? How do you understand the difference between race and ethnicity?

Both terms are wrong. Hispanic means that we speak Spanish. Latin it is the root of our language also. Race is White, Black or Negroes. In our countries we have a variety of races, Indians, Mestizos, Whites and so on. They used our language as a race and that's wrong. Countries like Venezuela, Colomiba, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic etc, have a large Black population also. As you can see, I call to all these a "Arroz con Pollo" bowl.

Latinos speak any language which originates from Spain or that area around there :France ,Portugal, Italy . Hispanic means you speak a Latin language that your race picked up from any one of the countries I just named .That's why they say Hispanics can be of any race. Race is simply a classification. For example , I speak English but am I an Englishman? Just check your DNA code and that should give you an idea of your true background.

Spanish is a individual from Spain (u . s . a . in Europe) Latino is a be conscious made with the help of a few employer with the help of folk from countries that are placed in the Americas (substantial and south usa) Hispanic is a term made with the help of the U. S. government to generalize and categorize human beings from countries that are placed in the Americas (substantial and south usa) Now if u incredibly need to ward off all those nonsense words in basic terms ask civilly "what's your ethnic history?"

well "Hispanic" means "of Spain" so if you are a Spainard (which is considered white), then you are Hispanic. Most people from Central and South America (not sure why its called Latin America?) are actually native Americans mixed with some Spanish traditions and language (and possibly a Spanish ancestor).

Although I am a 100% white American, I could identify as Hispanic (because my great grandparents of both sides were from Spain) more so then a native with ancestors from Central or South America .. but I don't because I have pride in my own country.

Science categorizes race into 3 broad racial groups (caucasoid, mongoloid, & *******).If u are an unmixed hispanic, according to anthropological science, u r caucasian. Then your ethnic group might be ie portuguese, spanish(SPAIN), venezuelen...

Your ethnic group is your BLOOD(your genes)

Nationality refers to where u were born, a geographical LOCATION... for example, IF I am unmixed italian born in canada -- then my race is caucasian, my ethnicity is italian, and my nationality is canadian(canada).

Latin isn't a race-it's a culture, a way of living(your own specific food, language, art, music...).Spanish, portuguese, italian, french, & romanian are all latin(os).ALSO cubans, puerto ricans... ... ...etc...

1-Racial group
2-Ethnic group (blood, genes)
3-Nationality(birthplace, location where u were born)

Hope this helps you.
