white Americans brought whites over as slaves, and tried to enslave native Americans. however, native Americans could flee and hide (they were on their home turf) and whites could cut their hair and hide, or intermarry, etc. So, white Americans (and Spanish people, etc) discovered blacks from the African Continent. these blacks didn't get a lot of the disease the white slaves did (they were used to the weather in the south and the Caribbean islands, it was like home) and they looked very different, and spoke very different languages, so were easy to find when they fled and dragged back. Then, you couldn't have them be indentured like the other slaves (meaning they could eventually go free) cause then you would have to take the time to figure out who was free and who wasn't, meaning blacks could potentially hide out as freemen, which completely negated the point of dragging them here in the first place

Learn some history.
Thru-out the middle ages, most people in Europe were serfs, and their status was very similar to slaves. In fact the words serf and slave come from the same root words.
In ancient Rome most people were not citizens and had none of what we now regard as basic civil rights. Many were slaves, and many more were little better off than slaves in some ways, and worse off in other ways.
In early America many people became slaves for a period of time (usually 7 - 10 years) to pay for their passage over to this continent from Europe, where their status was even worse.
If you read the bible, slavary was part of life in both old and new testament times.
The early settlers to the Americas also tried to enslave the native peoples, but this didn't work so well. It was too easy for a native person to escape the white settlement and return to their people. Also, too many got sick from diseases that they had never seen before. The enslavement of Africans became a widescale practice only after these other sources of cheap labor proved insufficient.
The difference with enslavement of Africans is that Africans were easily identifiable as distinct from the rest of the population, and so it became easier to establish a heriditary and permanent slave status. The identification got so strong that free black people had to carry papers to prove their free status, otherwise they were assumed to be slaves. This slave identification became a lasting scar on the American psyche.

What about the Native Americans? The Europeans resorted to enslaving African people after they had "exhausted" the Native Americans. And other Indians in Central and South America practiced different type of enslavement, such as the Incas and Aztecs.

Two examples: The Aztecs and Mayas routinely enslaved people from surrounding areas in Mexico and Central America. Mexico is in the western hemisphere.
