What has Simon contributed to the music industry that allows him to judge others?

Duuuuuhhhhh!!!!!!! Talk about the ignorant and uninformed... Simon invented American Idol. It's his show. Why should he NOT be able to participate in it??

He's a professional in the music industry. He started the original Pop Idol in England. His record label signs on many artists. He's experienced.

um...maybe it's because he has a strong knowledge of the music industry and what it takes to succeed? he wouldn't be on the show if he wasn't qualified to judge. he's been an A&R executive (decides which artists get audition spots at the label) at Sony BMG for almost 20 years. i think it's fair to say that he's more than qualified to judge who has the potential to sell.

Because he MADE the show? I think that would allow a Brit to do whatever he wants with it...

He's the only one who tells the truth. If the people suck then he just tells them like it is. Plus he's funny, which makes people want to watch the show.

his idea... and he is on a label that makes money... wether you want to admit it or not... he 99% knows what hes talking about.
