Yes it is P2P but works through a tracker instead of direct access like Limewire would.

A torrent is a type of peer to peer (P2P) connection that uses a tracker to connect to other users (called 'seeders') who are sharing the files you are downloading. Not all torrents require a tracker, though.

By using a torrent file, you can download a large group of files all at once without the need to have them packed into a .zip or .rar file.
