Voyeurism and danger that is a bit removed. If you had ever encountered real violence or bloodshed I doubt that you would be interested. Its a vicarious thrill with no consequences to your actual life. I wouldn't worry about it - Jack the Ripper has been a popular read fr ages because of the exact same reason. Drama

Ancient societies developed taboos against contact with dead bodies, and so they have been off limits, hence, a source of curiosity for everybody. Cyrus the Emperor (or was it Alicibiades) was known as a young man to "stay behind and look at the bodies" after a battle. So don't feel embarrased. Go to your local medical or law library and read the "Journal of Forensic Science" the articles there are selected to fascinate "peer" professionals for their unusual quality.
Please talk to your friends about "Hallitubes" as a means of stopping traffic congestion, it is a problem much bigger than Iraq.

I don't know, but my mom introduced me to the fine world of horror. She used to tell me that David Lynch's Blue Velvet was her favorite movie (I was 7 years old, and when I got to see it when I was 14, I was really perplexed). I guess, everyone's too enamored with violence and sex? This the same way, IMHO, why people love to watch the news and police reports.
