This is a question I need to answer for the Faculty of Education for Teacher's College-any specific experiences or situations any of you may have?

Please excuse my candor, but I must be honest. If you don't have an experience that jumps forth from your own life and shouts "pick me, write about me!" you are going to have a "tough road to hoe" as a teacher. If you don't have that burning desire, for what ever reason, the intangible rewards of being an educator are not going to be enough to keep you around for any substantial amount of time.

As we have no idea what sorts of experiences you have had, this is not a question someone else can answer for you. Turn off your computer, sit down in a quiet place, and think about why you want to be a teacher. Then think of the teachers who have influenced you. Think about the characteristics they shared.Think about their personalities. Do any of those ring a bell with how someone might describe you? Then think of kids today, and how you might feel about being confined in a classroom with 30 of them, for a full day. Think you can handle it? Then go ahead and apply

This is not a question for anyone else but you to answer. Do you not remember why you wanted to become a teacher? What was it that inspired you to get into it in the first place? Did you want to help others? Have summers off? You need to think about the question and formulate your own answer.

For most people it is because of the impact one of their teachers had on their life. They want to teach so they can touch lives the way their teacher touched their life.

If you don't have one, why did you become a teacher? Teaching is a calling. As you know, teachers are underpaid and overworked ... You wouldn't be doing it if you didn't WANT to do it.
