I have a Dell Dimension 8200 desktop computer and a Netgear wireless router, the ethernet cable that was supplied with the router does not fit into the back of my computer, is there any way to resolve this for example an adaptor of some sort?

The port is right by the USB ports.

Edit:
Oops, that is for an 8300, not 8200.
Looks like unless you have a Network Card installed, you will need to get a USB Network Adapter:

I don't mean to sound as though I'm doubting you, but are you sure you're attempting to fit your ethernet cable into a LAN port and not a modem port? The LAN port would be slightly wider than a modem port. This may be why you're seeing that it doesn't fit. Ethernet ports (and modem ports) fit standard dimensions.

If it is, in fact, a wireless router, the cable supplied would go between your router and your modem. You'll need to purchase a wi-fi adaptor for your PC.

Are you sure you're trying to plug it in the network slot and not the modem? Do you have a network card?

Right click My Computer, choose Properties. Click Device Manager. Look for Network adapters, and expand it by clicking on the + if you need to. If "Network Adapters" isn't there or doesn't have anything under it, you either don't have a network card, or it is not installed properly.
