my fave is beaujolais. its a really light red, kind of similar to pinot noir, but better. you can find sveral brands in the french section.

That's a subjective question, there are so many. Its like saying what food is best. My vote goes to Red Bordeaux wines (from Bordeaux France.), which are mix (cuvee) of different grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc...

That's easy. if it has a naff label and a quirky bottle - you are paying for the packaging.
Other than that, a £15.00 bottle is better than a £5.00 bottle.

Crap advice for a wine buff I know, but I heard this on TV once, and for the layman like I am, it makes common sense.

Like wot car... depends what I want it for but usu. Cotes Du Rhone cos it was my local brew and ok but not posh or expensive. Cheaper stuff can be better in its way.
