For the last 7 months we have engaged in the same bedtime ritual without incident -- bath, book, [breast for first 5 months] now bottle (with singing), bed. However, for the last four nights, my 8 month old son won't take the bottle from me. I have always given him the bottle (because the first 5 months it was breastfeeding and we just transitioned to the bottle later). My husband was able to give it to him, but he begins to fuss right after I put the book down and pick up the bottle. I am stumped as to what is going on. Any ideas?

Not quite sure but he could just not need it anymore or he could know the ritual and know that beds coming and be trying to fight it If he wont take it just don't give it to him it wont hurt him as long as he eats all his regular meals and takes all other bottles sometimes they are just ready for a new phase before we are =)

He wont take the bottle from you only at night? That's ok. I have noticed babys go through fast phases so it's probably not going to be a forever thing.

Babys grow so their needs change, they become aware their going to bed and dont want to go,all of them are different but you might want to try giving him baby cereal or a little babyfood before bed, then see if he will take his bottle, even if he just drinks a little, the food will make him sleep good.

He could be full and not want the bottle. If your still putting cereal in it, try one night with out it. He Could have gas, or he needs to burp.

Maybe he doesn't want as much milk anymore. His appetite could be changing.

If you really think he should have the milk-- maybe try putting it in a sippy cup.

As soon as you figure out what their routine is, they go and change it.
