How to choose between concrete, polyester blocs, steel, concrete or aluminium panels, plastic or composite panels?

Concrete ( with rebar). This is much stronger and lasts far longer than any other material. If the pool is tiled, it will outlast any other kind of pool with very little overhead.

The only maintenance that is needed is regrouting every 5-12 years, and perhaps an occasional acid-wash to remove any scaling.

your question is somewhat vague, are you referring to an in ground or above. where do you live? bottom line. a saltwater pool is the way to go. less maintenance and your skin does not suffer. go with plaster for an in ground. the biggest expense is the coping and landscape! that is where you can and will be screwed. also you may want to consider a pool that is 5 ft deep at each end and dips in the middle, great for volleyball, etc. shelves for resting , grotto's. the sky is the limit. ck w/several builders. make sure they DO ALL THE WORK> they make a contract get your money and then sell the job off to several different contractors. (one to dig, one to plaster, one to do tile..etc. you get my drift? ) be clear in your contract about the time deadline and warranty. good luck.

Concrete lasts the longest but requires the most upkeep but is cheap. The plastic doenst need much up keep but is the most expensive.
