If REM (Rapid Eye Movement) is caused by dreaming, then babies dream even in the womb, as research has shown.

With your baby, my guess would be that something is bugging him, and it's not bad dreams. My 8 months old was restless for nights and nights in the same way as you are describing, until I noticed that he got sour breath at nights. I gave him a little Zantac the next evening before putting him to bed for the night, and he slept great! He was nauseous and needed help. I would check for signs of discomfort, not bad dreams... by this age, babies should not have seen enough bad to dream about it!

Babys dream from the time they have a functioning brain it's of what they have experienced but its there. My daughter has had rough dreams before it's normal. But it could also be gas or possibly growing pains just try rubbing his back gently to soothe him or even pick him up and rock him a bit I had to do that a few times to get her to stop jerking around and fussing.

It is a proven scientific fact that as soon as the neurons and related brain cells begin to develop, that baby(ies) begins to actually dream! There could be another reason your child is restless at night. It could be the detergent you're using is not gentle enough for his skin. It could also be that he's attempting to get used to sleeping by himself at night too! Don't panic please! Your son will soon enough be able to regulate his own sleep at night and so will you!

they do start to dream when they are born but you need to talk to your pediatrician about the restless sleeping your child is experiencing. Most likely teething

Babies have dreams before they're 9 months.

Your baby could be restless from teething, stomach or other pains, or dreams-- he could just be a wild sleeper like my baby:)
