I thought Rewritable CDs could be used and later changed if you wanted to change them. I made a CD a while back, and now I'd like to put some different tracks on it. However, when I go to delete the old ones, my computer tells me that the files are read-only, and that I am not allowed to delete them?
Was I mistaken in the first place? Or should I be able to delete the old files and put new ones on there?

CD-RW content can be removed and new info rewritten. The following link will give you all the info you need to do what you are attempting with regard to CD-RW's!

You'll need to go into whatever program you used to burn them originally and look at the options for CD-RWs. There should be some kind of "format CD" or "wipe CD" option. You cannot just delete files like on a floppy disk or flash drive.

Did you actually get CD-RW's or CD-R's. CD-R's are a one time write. CD-RW's can be written to multiple times. You'll need to format the CD-RW in your burner program to be able to write to them again.

You cannot burn tracks to a CD-RW and then add more later, you need to format the disc and start again.

No no no.

I have re-writable CD's and on the instructions it says you only have the one chance to put files onto it. Once the files are on it and you have writen the CD then nothing can be change, nor edited, files are unable to be deleted and no files are able to be added.

Im not usre if mine are the same as yours but if they are then they are the instructions.

Hope this helps,
