I am an American, and I would be very sad if you were to become one of us. It is because I love y'all so much. You are the UK and I wouldn't have it any other way. You may have it wrong that we want you to become one of us, I think that many of us want to become you.
WE HATE OUR PRESIDENT!!! The middle class is being sold to China, We have to suffer Britney Spears as a role model for young women and political correctness is out of control. A Muslim Shot a bunch of folks in a Utah mall and the news never mentioned he was a Muslim.
You all know how to enjoy life and are the funniest people on the planet. It doesn't matter how ugly you may be, if you have a British, Scottish,Irish or Welsh accent you are sexy!
We will always be you friend.

Why would anyone in the United States want that? I say let all the socialist wackos stay on that side of the Atlantic -- we have no need or desire of them over here.
More seriously, though, you want imperialism? Don't point fingers at the President -- imperialism, by definition, is the creation of an EMPIRE (nice little reference in that word, there) through conquering and subjugation of other areas of the world.
By the way, I've noticed Yahoo Answers is decidedly less than accurate in giving an idea of how many people want what. Kind of like the polls on President Bush where seemingly 95% of those questioned reside in New York City -- but there seems to be a better balance here.

We do not want to annex the UK. I have never heard anyone here in the US state such a thing. We think of the UK as cousins. Please do not think of the ideas stated here as Gospel. Anonymity give people the guts to make the stupidest accusations in the form of questions. How else do you explain the hateful things peopIe say. I love the idea of exchanging ideas and learning about other cultures but sometimes just people drive me nuts. Ok... I feel better getting that of my chest.

I saw only one such question and ignored it. Believe me, there is not a groundswell of Americans talking about annexing the UK. If you've seen more than one Q, don't know why.

What American would want the UK? They have horrible food. If we were to annex anything, let's look North.
Also, if they were a state, we would have to impose a Governor, and dismantle the royal family. You know, like exile them to the Falklands.

thats ignorant they are already in the EU. Its people who want to strain US-Britain relations in the name of nationalism on the British part. The Brits know the average american is as against american foreign policy as the average Brit is!! So its a non-issue.

Funnelweb: Why do so many Britons want to be American? Can't hang around to debate the issue - got to drive my 4X4 to the Mall to take the kids to McDonalds while I pop into WalMart. And I want to be back by 9 so I don't miss Friends.
