Rage Against the Machine is a great Hip-Hop/Heavy Metal/Rock band. They're quite a bit politically rebellious, though, so if you're not into that it's probably not a good choice.
System of a Down is good Rock too, in my opinion, and I'm sure you've heard at least one of their songs. "Hypnotize", maybe? They're pretty heavy. On a similar note, Panic! at the Disco are pretty popular with Rock fans.
For Hip-Hop, I'd reccomend Gorillaz, especially their first album. They're often labeled Pop, but the music is really a big mish-mosh of all sorts of genres.
Hope I helped!

Go Old School and try the Misfits. They're a Jersey Band like MCR and MCR gets a lot of their sound from the Misfits.
