yes, if you pour the baking soda in the balloon using a funnel and the add the vinegar, it'll work the same was as it does with a volocano. If you hurry and tie the balloon, it won't have any where to go so it'll just expand the balloon!

First, put a small amount of baking soda in the bottom of a beaker with a thin rounded neck. then add the vinegar and slip the balloon over the neck of the beaker real fast. When the vinegar hits the baking soda, it'll fizzle, thats actually CO2 and that should inflate the balloon. Good luck with your science project.

Wouldn't the pressure from the mixture of baking soda and vinegar expand the balloon? I haven't worked with those two ingredients since grade school, but when I did I remember they reacted with foam. I would test a small sample of both, by pouring them into a balloon and tie the end to see how much it inflates it.

Find a small plastic or glass jar. Fill this about half way and then
por on the vinegar. Quickly stretch the opening of the balloon over the container and wait for the chemical reaction to realease gas and inflate the balloon to some degree,

Be sure to use plenty of baking soda, or you'll be disappointed--it takes lots of CO2 to inflate a balloon.

baking soda is NaHCO3, sodium bicarbonate. if Dr. pepper soda is NAHCO3. it ought to inflate balloon with vinegar because NAHCO3 reacts with vinegar (acetic acid) to type CO2 gas.
