i work in a special needs classroom and we have a old greenhouse attached to the back of our room. it has sat unused for several years. i had my class clean it out but unfortunatly it's in pretty bad disrepair. we want to use it and have plant sales to raise money for our classroom, but do not have the money or supplies to have it functional. do you think there are companies that would donate gardening supplies to special needs children?

There are always people willing to help outwith special needs. You can check local businesses in your community, as well as search online! Run an ad in the paper, there's always someone willing to help!!!

Yes try Lowes or Home Depot. If you need to raise money try getting the parents to donate baked goods for a sale. I think this is a great cause and if I had any money I would give you a nice portion for this projrct, there is so much educational value here. Good Luck - See if the local office of the United Way could help

Here's another suggestion. Contact organizations by/for the disabled in your community--they can help you two ways (money is probablynot on e of them, but that would be a third!). But they may be able to put you in contact with possible supporters. Equally important, if you can get them on board (perhaps as sponsers) they will help validate your effort. In other words, if you could say that the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans or the National Federation of the Blind was supporting your efforts, it helps to loosen the purse strings.

A sure way to enlist support is if you can interest a local media outlet--especially a TV station. Again, they might not provide cash--but publicity is just as good--it will translate into donations--and make the school look good, which will make the administration happy--which helps the cause.!
Good luck. :)

You might want to also check with local retailers that are part of a national chain, such as Wal-Mart, The Home Depot, Lowe's, to find out if they have grant or matching fund programs available for such projects. They also might provide some of the labor and materials.

Good luck on such a worthwhile project!

I belong to a church that do a lot of community services.
We helped with creating a garden for the community center, grew food for people in need. Help package bags of food, helped remodeled storage room in other distribution center, home the homeless. I am sure that if you can find a church in the area that service the community, they would be more than happen to help in any way they can. Give them a change to help.
