Colin Powell is a true patriot. If he believes the country needs him, he will run for president. People like him can't sit back and watch the country go downhill. He's a soldier and will respond to a call to arms.

First: Powell does not want the nomination because he knows, from the inside, how the system really works. You know the system that forced him to lie at the UN in 2002. He has too much integrity to deal with that.
Second: Because Powell did lie at the UN and led the BS war in 1991 (look up "the Highway of Death") in which several war crimes were committed Powell shows a tendency to cave in to and actively participate in the system at the worst possible times. Not what we want.
Third: Do we really want the military running the executive branch? Do we really want to continue on as a nation built on and dependent on WAR?

He does no longer like it and, after all, he's basically too tainted through the Bush administration. Powell made the incorrect decision in ‘being an effective soldier’. He must have placed loyalty to u . s . above loyalty to the President. He grow to be actual at the same time as he informed Bush ‘in case you destroy it, you personal it’, concerning Iraq. the problem is that maximum people did not understand or comprehend that. Powell had the region and appreciate to lead them to comprehend, yet he did not. as a effect, we can not even comprehend the wear and tear Bush has done to the country.

No, it's been tried. ( He said it himself. ) I doubt he'd make a good president. The jury's still out on how good, exactly, of a general he is.
Just because you were in the military and had command over troops isn't the same as being a head of state.
Look at General Grant.
His administration was rife with corruption and this probably greatly exacerbated the Indian Wars in the west.
Great General. Lousy president.
He'd probably say that himself.

No way, Jose.
Powell did not have the integrity or intestinal fortitude to stand up to bush, what makes you think he'd have the integrity or fortitude to lead a nation?
Yes, I give him points for hanging his head in shame and getting out as soon as he could.
But that's not enough to be the Leader of the Free World. It will require a person with STRENGTH to say, "NO. It isn't right and I'm not doing it."

I think he would be fine, but he has very clearly said that he does not want the job. He does not want his family to be such a focus for the nation and wants them to have normal lives.
