My wife and I want to avoid the cookie cutter homes and have found that Oak Cliff has a ton of those old craftsman style homes that have been restored. This is sort of a two part question:
1. Is it as nice as I hear? I've been told that the area is flourishing.
2. Is it safe to live in (my wife is very nervous about the very thought of moving there)?

Both sets of my grandparents live in Oak Cliff and my parents were both raised there, but they live(d) in South Oak Cliff.

I realize that there are parts that ARE bad. My wife and I drove over this past weekend to look at the homes and they were awesome. It really looks like the area is returning. We're pretty much sold at this point. Only drawback now is Dallas schools. We don't have children now, but when we do they will not go to any school in the DISD.

this is a quote from the demographics area of whipedia oak cliff review
" While many Hispanics have moved into poorer neighborhoods like Oak Cliff, more affluent African Americans have migrated south to the suburbs of Cedar Hill, Duncanville, Lancaster and DeSoto."

this second link is for an awesome texas encyclopedia. Still not references to North oak cliff.

...son, are tou talk'n about Dallas Texas...? Dallas has been so over run by unchecked population it take over 45 min to get to Grand Prairie on I 30... you'd better do a bit more South... below Waxahatchee of I35...but then you might lke the conjestion...
