does the numbing medication they give for an abortion help alot? Wat part hurts the most during an abortion without no numbing meds and/or sedation? is it when they have to dilate your cervix? JUST curious cuz my sister had one done and they gave her nothin at all just a tylenol 600 which is kinda odd.

It is the dilation that causes the most pain. It's odd that they didn't give her a numbing agent, but sedation isn't really a necessary element. The tylenol would help with the cramping during and after the procedure, but it wouldn't really help with the dilation.

Some women say the numbing agent helps a lot, but with some women it doesn't do anything, so really it depends on the individual women.

Definitely odd. She should have been given something stronger. If her pain's bad, call the doctor for a prescription.
Dilating the cervix is extremely painful.

I wasn't given any pain meds, just medicine to stop bleeding. I didn't feel pain during the procedure,I also kept my eyes closed and tried to think of happier things.
