I have several, but I really enjoy acting the songs out with other castmates. In "Into the Woods" I sang "It Takes Two" (lip-synching) with the Witch's cane. It was kind of weird, yet fun, because there was a skull on the top that I was singing to.

As for memories, in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" at one point Veruca and her parents each slid down a little slide into the magical land of backstage (in the scene where the squirrels threw them down the dumpster) and on closing night we held up signs to rate each slide. It was fun because they'd be sliding and they'd look up and see five or six number 10's held up, and the looks on their faces were priceless!

Any other backstage fun?

I went through a phase where I was always participating -- or organizing -- a backstage Bridge game. A great way to pass the time between entrances, but a little dangerous, too. Once, while playing the role of Joseph Surface in a production of R. B. Sheridan's "The School for Scandal," I was completely immersed in a hand I was playing...when I suddenly heard my cue line come over the monitor. I jumped up, scattering cards (and the other players) everywhere, and bolted for the stage. I managed to make my entrace only a couple of second late...huffing and puffing.

I remember freaking out an upper classman in the greenroom once. We were talking about old songs and the song "Patches" came up. It was always a fave of mine and I started singing it. I was doing a pretty good rendition of Clarence Carter and the guy's jaw just dropped. Here's a scrawny, baby-faced white boy sounding like a Mississippi bluesman. That old greenroom was cold and drafty, with some beat up old couches in it, but it was THE best place for rehearsing lines, gossiping, and just interacting with fellow actors.

While doing a community play, A guy actor popped my neck. I was scared to let him, but everyone else was o.k. It really felt good.

I still don't know if this was dangerous, seems like it should be though!
