Definitely wash them in cold water, inside out preferably, to keep the color from fading. Do not put them in the dryer no matter what. I don't care if you have a setting that is "no heat", do not do it. Hang them up to dry or lay them flat. If you are concerned about stiffness of the jeans after they dry(from not drying them in the dryer), you can either put the liquid fabric softener in the wash, or wait until the jeans are completely dry and then put a dryer sheet with the jeans in the dryer on low heat for about 10 mins...they will be soft after that.
You can also opt for taking them to the dry cleaners to be cleaned, but it can be costly week after week.

No, they won't shrink. Just don't put them in the dryer. Either lie them flat or hang them up to dry.
If they are black or have a very dark wash and you don't want them to fade, wash them inside out in very cold water. Not much detergent either.

You should be fine...just avoid the dryer and don't put them in the sun to dry as it might fade their color more.
Silly question...how else would you wash them if you couldn't put them in water?

They will not shrink provided they were made from preshrunk cotton. Check the label, if in doubt, your plan is a sound one.
