heres how my unorthodox questions work. they do not give my stance or anything, however, i'm gonig to provide 3 valid points for each side and whichever side you choose to side with refute the opposite points. I. E. if i said 1. i like watermelon because then you would say no, you do not like watermelon because
PLEASE do not say "i agree with these points!" unless you are also refuting the opposite side's points. thank you!
Pro:
1. School uniforms would help to unify the students as a whole
2. Uniforms would prevent richer students from flaunting new clothes
3. Dress codes would be No longer needed, and this helps stress on teachers as well, as they don't have to scan their students every day for breaking of that code
Con:
1. Many kids feel that the only thing they can control is what they wear, and they couldn't even do that
2. would cause lots more money/electricity used..need to wash/replace uniform many times
3. May cause more students put in homeschool (PO'd parents)

obviously you people do not get these questions. I realize you have a monopoly on stupidity, but at least read the instructions. DO NOT answer unless
you're sticking to the format and specifically refuting all three contentions on either side

Also, this doesn't have to be your personal beliefs. i a lot of times will give best answer to people who are on the less populated side (IE you'll have a better chance of best answer if you go against the crowd, and [right now it looks like] lobby for school uniforms

I don't think that requiring a school uniform is a good idea.

1. School uniforms would help to unify the students as a whole
Yep, it would unify them against the school. Lets make the learning situation a bit more casual for the kids. Don't bust them because they are not wearing a uniform, or wearing a uniform incorrectly. Let the kids learn in school instead.

2. Uniforms would prevent richer students from flaunting new clothes
Who cares? If they don't have the clothes to flaunt, they will find something else. Your statement seems a lot like rich bashing. Don't knock someone just because of their economic level.

3. Dress codes would be No longer needed, and this helps stress on teachers as well, as they don't have to scan their students every day for breaking of that code
Actually, a school uniform is a totalitarian dress code. This will increase stress on the teachers because now the rules are even more stringent. Students will break the uniform code and the teachers will have to deal with it. I more for relaxing the dress code a bit.

con #1 kids do not have control of anything until age 18 , honey my kid is 14 , and yes he has an input to his clothes , but If I say no then it is no....why do you think there are laws in place that say your parents are responsible for you until age 18

con#2 it would cost no more to wash and replace them than the clothes you wear..it would also give kids a respectable look , plus it would end the prison booty call ( sagging pants with drawers or butt crack showing)

Con #3 No, because most parents do not even know how to make their child behave ,,,so how are they going to get their children to co-operate ,the parent will have a full day of going like this "take out your book or you are in big trouble mister" then it starts "1 , 2 , 3", by lunch time-"-89 ,90, 91" then by days end "158 , 159 , 160 --ok mister you have got yourself a time out"

Sorry but your cons have really just been turned in to more pro's if you are going to fight something like this you have to have solid cons that can have no pro side ..but remember there are always two sides to everything ..besides most parents are for it ,the politicians are for it because their friend happens to run or own the uniform makers plus it can generate money for the school district if the uniforms are purchased through the school
as always" Money Wins"

PRO
- Identifies underage children so older people will be less likely to want to date them.
- Prevents kids from claming to be adults to buy tobacco or alcohol after school.

CON
- Some parents find uniform too expensive. £15 a sweater is a lot more than one in the sale at ASDA George. Often neat formal leather shoes cost £30 to £60 a pair.
- A dress code is still needed as some kids will try to stretch the uniform's limits.
- Discourages individual thought and creativity.
- Bland colours are neat but not highly visible and therefore bad for pedestrians to wear in winter because of road safety issues.
- Discourages traditional cultural methods of dressing and damages cultural values and links to cultural heritage.
- Some people can't wear certain fabrics due to allergies.
- Some people won't wear artificial fibres, while others won't wear animal products (wool, leather etc) for ethical reasons.

I have been going to uniform schoold all my life, and yes they can be good for somethings but no matter what the school supplys as school uniforms the kids are always going to find a way to make it "fashionable". Plus teacher and parents are always telling thier children to be unique, but how can they when they all look the same! They will grow out of their unappropriate clothing, just let them wear what they want for now!

Well, I'd like to play, but I don't especially agree with either side. I'm more into dress codes, which fall in between.

I'm not into forensics where I'm forced to take a position I don't agree with. Sorry.
