Should You Flush Tampons

2016-09-28 02:31:27 · answer #2 · answered by draney 4 · 0 0

I've been flushing them into our septic tank system for my entire adult life - over 20 years. No problem. I can't, for the life of me, work out why you shouldn't put them into a septic tank system. I don't put the plastic wrapper in and I don't use the applicator type. I've recently started working in a new place where there are signs stipulating that you can't flush them, and wondered what the h*** you are supposed to do with them. Just checked the packet and it says not to flush them in the interest of the environment.

Some you can. They say on the package that they are safe to be flushed. One example is OB tampons.

But this is ONLY if you are on a sewer system. NEVER flush any tampons down the toilet if you have a septic system.

Does you toilet have 1 1/2 gallons? If so, the tampon could get stuck.

Most tampons you can flush down the toliet but I know many businesses dont want you to do it. Some tampons arent made to be flused and they can back up the system.

Tampon Flush

Yes but only if you have a home/apt that has a sewer system. If on a septic tank with clog up. Just don't put more than one down at a time. Can clog your system to have heavy items. That is why faceial tissue should not go down the toilet it is not designed to break up like toilet tissue.

Yes, if you don't have a septic system. If you have a septic system, the tampons can cause it to need pumping alot sooner, because the tampons do not break down as easily as the fecal matter.

if they are made of biodegradable materials and the toilet in question actually goes to a sewer line (not a septic tank), then yes. watch the applicator though! you can only flush paper ones!
