Next time you build up Favorites or Bookmarks, export them to a file. From IE, click File, click Import and Export. Follow the wizard.

If you save to an HTML file on the desktop, for example, when you open it you can click on a link. If for some reason you want it in a text file, Open the html file and click File, Save as. Note where you are saving it, give it a name, and be sure the filetype is set to txt.

As you visit more sites and save more favorites, you will want to redo this because the file you saved on disk will not automatically update.
