Both are congested with higher than average cost of living and crime. Orlando is distinctly becoming a haves/have-nots town. Dr. Phillips area of Orlando has secure, gated communities(Isleworth, Bay Hill, etc.) but you're not getting in for under about $750K. The schools in these selected areas of Orlando are very good, but elsewhere they suck! I live in Orlando and have friends in Jacksonville. Each of us love where we live and wouldn't move.

It basically comes down to this: what industry do you want to be in?

* Orlando is tourism - hotels, timeshare, theme parks.
* Jacksonville is finance - banks, insurance, etc.

both places are very congested! Orlando being absolutely ridicules! Jackson is very pretty, and the cost of living is a bit lower. However, Fl. has been hit very hard with all the problems associated with being inundated with Illegal aliens. Taxes have gone crazy, wages are low, and housing cost is almost unafordable. That's the reason we left, couldn't afford it any more.

well 2 things to consider.. orlando is a tourist city... lot of things to do .. jacksonville.. is not as busy of a city..both have there ups and down.. if your a young couple orlando may be more to your liking.. lots of concerts and things going on...if your older then jacksonville may be more to your liking.. if you like the country .. then i would recommed hillard . that is close to jax but still country type livingjust do a lot of research on the subject first.. that is a big step.. personally my self i am moving back to jax... but that is where i am from

Jacksonville has better paying jobs since it is a major banking center in Florida. Orlando jobs are horrible paying.

To me BOTH PLACES SUCK! I rather be in Miami.
