I stopped work 10 days before my due date (and have never been back 3+ years). I suggest working as long as possible if you're going back after the baby is born so that you can have all your time off with the baby and not just sitting around wondering when you'll go into labor.

If you don't have any medical issues, work up to the time you have your baby. People rarely go into labor during the day, like they show on TV. I've heard they usually go into labor evenings and at night. I got put on bedrest 2 days before I went into labor, but I labored all day at home and actually didn't realize it was labor until 1/2 through the day. I would have definately had time to go home if I needed to before the baby was born. Several people worked up to the time we went into the hospital. I've never known anyone to go into labor at work.
That way you can get your full 6 weeks of maternity leave with your baby.

I worked until 5 days before my due date. I knew any longer than that and I would go stir crazy and 5 days was plenty of time to clean, make sure all was in order for my daughter to arrive. My last month of pregnancy I started assigning my job duties to other coworkers, just in case I went into labor early.
Congrats on your baby girl!

It depends on what sort of work you do. As long as you are comfortable, you don't need to stop working until you go into labor. I stopped about a week before my due date because I just couldn't sit in an uncomfortable chair in front of a computer any longer.

if you could afford it I would stop 6-weeks before the due date and this would give you time to rest and do the last minute things that you need to do. congulations on your baby girl. I hope you lots of happiness.

It depends on how you feel... I worked up until the end of my 8th month. After I had my baby I stayed home for two months then I returned to work. I had three months off-- it was nice!

i worked as a waitress with my first one right up to the day he was born. there's no reason to stop. you'll just drive yourself insane if you stay home. you'll just sit around and think about how uncomfortable you are all day.
