the reasaon i ask is because i just bought the book and there are 223 pages in it, but someone i know was like the books i see have a lot more pages in it. and then i notice that some of the books are listed "adult" what is the difference and do they contain extra material

The hard cover edition of SS has just over 300 pages. I'm not sure on the paperback edition. Your friend was probably talking about the later books in the series. Book 5 in hardcover has over 800 pages, the US edition anyway. They may be listed as adult because the story gets darker and has more content that is geared towards teens and up.

it depends if the book is hard cover or soft cover, some can be in different languages which will use a different amount of pages to get the story across for the reader....and some countries may not have different restrictions on what is appropriate for children and might lable things as "adults"...
