That's messed up. My dad had similar probs, but he drank and smoked weed at home. He'd be totally out of it while my mom was at bingo so my sister and I did whatever. What a fun time.

My parents never had any drinking problems or anything like that but my father used to play piano and sing at a club/bar on the weekends so when there wasn't a babysitter they'd take me to the club and I'd have fun playing on the dance floor because I'd try to catch the lights from the disco ball. I'd sit up on stage with my father while the band was playing and he even handed me the microphone a few times to sing songs like "Old Time Rock and Roll" to a bunch of drunks. And it's amazing how much a kid can entertain drunk people. I'm glad to know someone else was in a bar at a young age! Of course, this was back in the 80s. If someone did that nowadays, they'd be under the jail.

That's not the hot spot for children to hang out...I don't agree with your mother's upbringing of you, but that is none of my business.
You aren't going to see other kids there, it's not natural!!!
I'm was a functioning alcoholic, and I never went to bars, never mind take my children there, how are you doing with that?

My parents were both alcoholics, but they stayed at home & were nice & took care of us...however, you're not alone, my husband had a similar upbringing. It is sad, but it could be worse....at least she loved you & took care of you despite her addiction problems....there are kids who don't even feel loved.
Sorry to preach such a long answer =)

darling, you are definately not alone in that category... i was almost born on a pool table.... it is not a bad thing because you can see how people get when they drink at a very young age and then you can make up your own mind from there the choices that you want to make as an adult .. just my theory
