How do I get those oil spill stains that leak from your car from the drive way?

STEP 1: Pour cola on the oily or dry stained areas, and leave the cola on overnight. Squirt a generous amount of dishwashing liquid into a bucket until you have a good lather. Rinse with the soapy water, then with a garden hose.
STEP 2: Sprinkle baking soda or an absorbent powder such as cornmeal or sawdust on the oily spots. If the stain is dry, wet it first to make a scouring paste. Scrub with a stiff brush or push broom.
STEP 3: Sprinkle automatic dishwasher detergent on the oily concrete. Leave it for several minutes, then pour boiling water on the stained area. Scrub with a stiff brush or push broom, then rinse.
STEP 4: Try a commercial concrete cleaner such as Garage and Driveway Cleaner by Red Devil Co. or a grease solvent such as Benzine. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.
STEP 5: Sprinkle trisodium phosphate (TSP) on the oily concrete. If the stain is dry, wet it first. Let it stand for 30 minutes. Scrub using a stiff broom. TSP is a dangerous product; if you must use it, wear rubber or latex gloves, safety goggles and protective clothing. Also, never wash a TSP product down storm drains.
STEP 6: As a last resort, combat tough spills with muriatic acid and a pressure washer. Apply the acid following the manufacturer's directions, and let it soak for several seconds. Follow with a pressure washer set at 2,500 to 3,000 lbs. per square inch (psi), or 176 to 211 kg per square cm. Like TSP, muriatic acid is a dangerous product; likewise, if you must use it, wear rubber or latex gloves, safety goggles and protective clothing, and never wash such a product down storm drains. STEP 7: After trying any of the strategies above, sprinkle baking soda over the cleaned area to neutralize the solution you've used.

Well for some reason people always say coke, kitty litter, etc. But I watched a report on tv where they proved that none of that really works. I did finally find some stuff that does work. The website is www.tepcoproducts.com.

I used the aqua n-cap under my car until I finally got the leak fixed. It was a few months, and when I went to pick it up, it was a solid mat. It was cool. Where I live it's illegal to use clay absorbent or kitty litter to absorb the spill and then throw it away. It's considered hazardous waste. But the aqua n-cap locks in the oil so it's safe.

Then I got the stain up with their Terracap product. Totally gone! Love that stuff!

Kitty muddle to absorb as much as you may. Then some sparkling kitty muddle and grind it into the concrete with a left over 6" piece of two via 4 board(Or the rest you will stumble on reachable.) won't get each and every of the oil out, however the floor in kitty muddle is the same shade as concrete and covers up the stain completely. Lasts an prolonged time. My oil stains we took out of my mothers and fathers storage and driveway have not been seen for a pair years now.

I do know that using cat litter will help with soaking up any oil as long as it's put on it right away and hopefully it will get up most or all of the oil. If this does not help, try going to a local hardware store to see if there is anything that you can buy that will get the oil off of the driveway.

Buy a bag of ordinary garden lime. Put a shovel or so of it over the oil spill. Then cover with cardboard and weight down with a board. That lime will absorb the grease to the point where it will be nearly invisible and rain and sun will finish the job for you.

This same question was asked on the local weekend news show saturday morning. A viewer wrote in who said that she worked at a gas station and they cleaned up oil spills with Tide detergent (powder, NOT liquid) and a broom.

A power sprayer will get the stains up and then I would look in to putting a (special paint for driveways, etc) sealer coat of paint on the driveway. (I just use the power sprayer once a year)

If your driveway is concrete use miratic acid on it. This is some dangerous stuff. It will also eat holes in your clothes, so protect yourself. Use a broom to spread the acid on the driveway then rinse off with water.
