I was told not to use dryer sheets (like bounce or snuggle) in my new dyer. When I asked why, they just told me that they are bad for dryers.
(???)

No, dryer sheets actually keep your cloths from wrinkling and building up static. They are specially made for your dryer, so no they're not bad for the dryer. I would strongly suggest that you clean out the lint trap, because if you don't sometimes your dryer can get clogged and will not start. Most dryers have a function in which they will not start if the lint trap it too full. This way lint and other matter won't clog the hose, which can be very expensive to replace.

No, they're not bad for the dryer. One suggestion though: instead of using Bounce or Snuggle, try Method brand dryer sheets. They're moist, and you can use each sheet twice. Their softeners penetrate into the fabric more than the other brands. I've never liked the feeling of Bounce; they feel kind of waxy or slick to me. Our local Target carries the Method brand of cleaners, soaps, candles, etc. Method could be available elsewhere at grocery stores, too. Hope that helps!

I, too, have never heard of dryer sheets being bad for dryers! Just keep the lint trap clear and the hot air hose leading out of the back of the dryer unclogged. And if you want to use your dryer sheets for other groovy things, check this out for kicks...

I just tried the cleaning process, as I use dryer sheets all the time, and the difference is nominal. It might help to note that after you scrub a plastic trap with soapy water, you have changed the surface tension properties, and it will shed water easier. A parlor trick...

Keep stuff clean, use the sheets...

Dryer sheets can create a film on you filter and clog it. You need to clean the filter every so often - remove it an wash it with soap and water.

Also if you are really concerned there are "wet" dryersheets available from "method" available at Target.

no they are not. whats the difference between a dryer sheet or a sock. whats bad for dryers are the lint traps and the exhaust hose being clogged with lint.

If dryer sheets were bad for your dryer then they wouldn't be called DRYER sheets... They are made for dryers and nothing else

for some reason they create a film in the lint trap, causing it to get clogged. You need to wash the lint trap at least once a week if you use them.

no, they're not bad for the dryer and they also freshen a room if you clothespin one to the blade of a ceiling fan.
