i want to buy an ipod nano. but will i be able to use my existing collection of mp3s with it? or will i have to buy music from apple to use on it? and what about those damn copy protected cds can i use music that is ripped from them on an ipod?

You can load the music you got from other services as long as it's in mp3 format. If you can't load them to your ipod use a conversion program you can get for free from http://www.dowload.com

Yes, you can use your existing mp3 collection, as long as it was not purchased from sites such as Yahoo Music, Rhapsody, or Napster.

You can also rip your CDs to use on the nano. Just use the ripper included in iTunes. I'll post a link showing you how to use the iTunes CD ripper.
