since you are using your upper body more to bear your weight it is going to be sore. Advils and hot showers will help. Also - ensure that your armpits are NOT resting on the crutches when you use them -this is not proper technique and may lead to a pinched nerve in your arm.

Hi there. Crutches are supposed to be adjusted to the user.Be sure there is 4 finger width between the top of the crutch and your arm pit. That way there is no possibility of axilla nerve damage.Have your hand grips adjusted so that your elbows are slightly bent.Your elbows should not be locked. It's tough since women tend not to have upper body strength of men. You probably know to elevate your ankle as much as possible. Bones take 6-8 weeks to heal. May it pass quickly.

Well, its how you are using the crutches that makes your
upper body hurt. I know, I was on crutches for quite a while with
my broken foot... try looking at these sites:

Make sure you use the crutches properly and that they fit you correctly. You can get gel pads (http://www.wisdomking.com/product71410c105051.html) for both the tops and the hand grips for the crutches. These are much more confortable and help protect your skin from breaking down and getting sores.

Make sure that you have been properly fitted with crutches and you know how to use them. Also stay off your feet as much as possible.
