cash on top of a bank machine, would you honestly return it expecting a financial reward,.?

Yes I would. First of all, If you are standing in front of an ATM (bank machine) you are already on camera, and so is the person who left the money in the first place.
2. $ 50,000 cash? it's most likely dirty money.
3. One thing that I have learned is to never expect a reward for good deeds. This is a sign of wrong thinking and motivation.

I would take the money, and thank the lucky stars.

Here are my reasons:
1. Because there is no way I could return that money - because there's no owner's name on that money.
2. Because it's the owner's fault, and their carelessness that they would leave money around.
3. Because if I don't take it, someone else will.

On the other hand, if there is a name, and I saw who left the money, I would return it.

(By the way, is that $50 bucks or $50,000 bucks?)

If it is $50 bucks, no question. I would take it. If it is $50,000 in cash... I would be suspicious. I would most likely try and return the money.

Certainly. Someone has to account for that money. Any honest person would return it. Now, if I found it laying out in the street, that's a different story all together.
