How do I help reduce menstrual cramps? When figuring when my next period will be, do I count 28 days from the day my previous period started or ended?

Please see a doctor. Really bad cramps can be a sign of a lot of illnesses/conditions that may be contributing to your pain. Hormones can make many things flare up.

28 days from the start of your period, but that's just an average, and may not be your body's normal.
You can help with cramps by not eating salty food just before and during the first few days of your period (the extra salt causes fluid retention, which adds to cramps).
Try a heating pad on your tummy for the discomfort. Tylenol can help with the discomfort.

Heat bag, mild painkillers, gentle exercise, drink lots of water. If your cramps are stopping you from participating in day to day activities you might want to consider seeing a doctor to get some medication to lessen your pain. Good luck!

Drink hot tea ,try to move around, avoid milk or dairy products (all those hormones),get a heating pad and/or sleep.

I think to calculate when your next period will be, you can count 28 days down from when your period ended. Here is info:

Drink in a lot of water or taken in a lot of fluids a day or two before you are due. Don’t miss a meal during this time. It is mostly due muscle fatigue or dehydration. You can also look for information in the web. I found this website very useful. http://aches.in/cramps.html

an herb that i have found to help with cramping is Valerian root, in capsules, you can buy it at walmarts. it has a tendency to make you feel relaxed and sleepy, so try it at night first.
also, a hot water bottle on your lower abdomen might help too..
good luck
