::I have 3 sisters and yes we are very different. I don't know how old you are but we fought until we were quite old really. I fought with my older sister until I was 25 and she was 27!! Now we are the best of friends and would defend each other to death! The other two who are 2 and 4 years younger were eventually included in our clan and the only friends we now have are each other as we need no one else!! IT'S GREAT HAVING SIBLINGS - LEARN TO APPRECIATE THEM!

Personality is still a mystery in psychology. There are many theories as to how it develops and becomes fixed. As with many psychological phenomena, the truth is often a combination of factors. There is some evidence that our genes predispose us to some elements of our personality. This cannot explain everything, as even identical twins have differing personalities. Babies express different "temperaments" even in the womb. Environmental factors may shape the existing temperament and as each experience will be interpreted subjectively by the child they will behave differently. As the child grows up there will be a new factor for them to consider - society. Certain behaviours are more desirable and these may be adopted. For example, girls who happily played with building bricks and toy cars will suddenly see the value of behaving in a more feminine manner when they play with other little girls.
Basically, the personality is result of an interaction between genetic temperament, experience and social pressures. Many psychologists have tried to measure personality using test batteries. Most of these examine certain traits like introversion, neurosis, emotional stability and even psychopathy.
As you have used the term "defective" in your question, I assume there is something in your child's personality that worries you. Perhaps if you give some more details we would have a better idea of what you are trying to find out?

Everyone has their own chemical makeup that helps to determine how the act and react to situations. Each sibling has their own set of experiences - and the way other people relate to them will have a lot to do with how their personalities evolve. So genes, birth order, personal experiences - all of that shapes who we are. I have a set of identical twins and although they are alike in some ways they are very different in other ways.
I think that they kids themselves also try to find their "role" in the family. They seem to sometimes develop personalities that compliment each other rather than carbon copy each other.

We are all individuals, just because two people have the same parents and are raised basically the same does not mean that they will both turnout the same.
Its called free agency,we all have the ability to make right or wrong choises, are parents can teach us what is right to the best of there abilities, but it is up to us to choose the right ,and that has been an issue for us humans since the beginning.

My study of astrology brings me closest to a recognition ,and order ,of similar personalities.God shows me that the best of human reasoning is a inexact science at best. I have been able to predict my siblings behavior, with astrology, with excellent results.
