Seriously, I saw one of my neighbors at Blockbuster today with her kid and said "hello" and she looked at me like if I grew a second head.

And so, because this person ignored you, you consider ALL Americans to be hostile toward strangers. It's amazing how someone can condemn ALL from a sample of ONE!

Simple answer is, there not. Perhaps a better question is why are people so hostile in your neighborhood? America is a big country with many different kinds of people. What we consider friendly or good manners changes a great deal by region. So i have to take exception with you "Americans" statement

How could she rightfully teach her child manners, if she doesn't know propper etiquite?
