Hey, why can't he help a bit (and make it fun for BOTH of you)?
As a Long Term Single Parent (and now an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree), that chore, along with EVERYTHING ELSE ... happened to be on my Agenda after coming home from EARNING the income that PROVIDED for MY HOUSEHOLD. IF I did NOT do the chores .. they KEPT piling up, so even as tired and exhausted as I was ... it was a simple matter of opening the washer door, throwing in the next load, loading the detergent/additives, and turning it on .. then going on to the next chores ... when the bell rang -- run over, toss the load into the dryer, then start another load, start both machines, and go back to the others.
I did NOT have to get motivated. I did it because there was NO OTHER CHOICE. I HAD to ... I did NOT want my children to go to school with dirty, filthy clothes, I did NOT like stinky bedrooms, or smelly sheets, etc.
Same with Dishes, Raking the Lawn, etc.

I get motivated by thinking if I keep my house clean,or just clean it real good once a week all I got to do for the rest of the week is sit back and relax, and anoher thing if your house is clean you wont be ashame to have ppl come over ,also if all you have to do in the run of a day is clean the house there is no reason why your house should not be clean. If he is footing the bills honey clean your house because a good man is few and far between.

Get yourself a timer...set it for 30 minutes and clean in one room. Then go to the next and the next and the next, each time setting the timer for 30 minutes. You will be amazed at all the things you can do in just a 1/2 hour in each room.
Get your cleaning supplies together. Take a garage bag, laundry basket and tote with cleaners with you to each room. Have a medium size box to put things in that don't belong in the room you are working on, Replace items to each room as you clean each room.
Put some music on while you clean..nothing to slow or emotional. Rock music seems to work the best for me.
Do two things at once. Have laundry going while you clean the kitchen. Etc. etc. etc.
Use your time wisely. I work full time have two kids and still cook and clean every day. So get to work on making your house a home.

I always turn the music up really loud before i start cleaning. I clean one room at a time until it's all done. Sometimes a glass of wine helps too.

I take 3 primatene tablets and 5 caffeine tablets with a cup of starbucks. Otherwise I'd just stay here in front of my computer until I had to take a leak, and could'nt hold it anymore.

well, when I am mad is when my house gets spotless... but I like to look on line for ideas of decorating.. I paint, and rearrange, and I wash small loads daily, as not to pile up.

Just do it. If you just focus on what needs to be done, then just do it and get it out of the way, and then just reward yourself for it. Always reward yourself. : )
