I'm thirteen and I've been wearing bikinis for the past two years. It should be flattering and fit well, though. And the kid should wear plenty of sun screen.

Our culture sexualizes preteens. This is not good for them. Any family or institution (school, beach club, swim club, camp, etc) that wants to make a rule that 12 year olds may not wear bikinis has my full support. one piece suits are more comfortable and more practical for swimming. Do you ever see female competitive swimmers wear bikinis during practice or competition? No, because any female can swim better when she wears a one piece suit. Besides which (and completely beside the point) the writer of this question needs to spend more time learning how to spell (aloud???? should be allowed) and less time advocating for bikinis for preteens.

It depends on the bikini. A full coverage halter & maybe french cut bottoms. String bikini's, thongs & those without enough material are out. If your parents are not ok with bikini's, maybe a tankini is an option they would approve of. It's still two peices, but there isn't so much skin showing.

I wouldn`t want my little girl in a bikini ( if I had one ) because of the way this world is. To many predators out there and it`s different when she is grown up because kids aren`t as aware of danger as adults and I just don`t think it`s a good Idea to bait a hook if you know what I mean. If at home we had a pool in the back yard and that would be okay under supervision. No predators allowed

I don't they they should... What reason would they rather wear a bikini than a normal swimsuit??? ugh. I dont even want to know.
If I ever saw a twelve year old in a bikini, I'd be disgusted. But then again, this is a free country...

The rule of thumb is ... if you have any sort of shape to your body, and you're not in high school yet, you shouldn't wear them (and even young girls in HS might not want to). This is misleading to the opposite sex. I see 12 year olds who look like 16-18 year olds! What kind of message are you trying to send out? If you want to keep your innocence & stay out of trouble, don't do it.

Hhhmmmm let me think about that...uh NO!!!!! Kids wearing bikinis would make them a target for sexual predetors. If kids are going to wear bikinis, they should wear them inside their house where no one would see them.

Bikinis = Sex Symbol
12y/o ≠ Sex Symbol
